“I love the work I’m doing
now as a musician and a sound healing practitioner because it uses all the
skills that I have worked on throughout my life: singing, flute playing,
keyboard, harp as well as spiritual practices that I have engaged in for
many years. I create music live for individual clients and workshops,
reiki circles, yoga classes and massage. When I work with people, I
encourage them to use music more consciously and especially to use their
own voices as a tool for transformation, healing and connection to spirit.
Music, sound and vibration are amazing tools and I think in times to come,
people will realize more and more what a powerful gift they are for both
healing ourselves and the planet.”

A day long or weekend workshop with HARC (Ruth
Cunningham and Ana Hernández)
A Not-So-Quiet-Day
of Spiritual Exercises
Using Sound and
Shared Silence.
If you can hum, you can come.
We will:
° Re-discover God with and in our voices
° Listen deeply and bask in the presence that unites us all
° Explore sacred chant to heal ourselves and the world
° Experience the ways sound touches spirit
° Learn how sound enhances mental and physical well-being
° Reflect on sounds that open (and close) our hearts
° Pray for inner and outer peace
The voice is nature’s most perfect instrument; other instruments have been
trying to replicate its magnetism since the dawn of time. Our voices reveal
things about us before we realize them ourselves – like emotions or mood - and
can clue us in to our physical and emotional realities. Your voice is a
barometer: it measures the atmospheric pressure of your emotions. Voices can
betray energy level – picture a child before bed, hoarsely crying, “I’m
NOT tired!” Our voices disclose attitude: honest or dishonest, sincere or
insincere – how often are the words “Oh, I’d love to, but …” belied by
the feeling in the voice (“No way in hell!”) . When we dream about our
greatest dreams or suffer our biggest hurts, they are present in our voices.
Join us for a day of singing, deep listening, and seriously fun prayer. All
are welcome! Knowing yourself can put you on the fast track to a healthy inner
life. Learn how your voice lives in your body, and how to use it to generate
health and healing. Listen to yourself for a change. The voice you’ve been
given is a part of your gift to the world, and is unique in the universe.
Open to absolutely everybody. A multi-faith experience.

“Ruth received
an
enthusiastic response at our Mind/Body/Spirit Programs Center at St.
Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan. Most recently she did a
‘Sound Healing’ in-service for our psychiatric behavioral health
hospital in Harrison, New York. Ruth’s program was 2 hours and about 28
counselors attended including deptartment heads. With clarity and simplicity she
lead them through humming and toning exercises and then created an
intuitive musical piece specifically for the group with harp and flute as
well as voice. It was extremely powerful and people were deeply moved.
There are many centering and healing techniques that are available for
people today. Ruth’s blends the simple with the aesthetic so that anyone
can easily access their own sacred space.”

“Ruth Cunningham has [sung and
played] in this Acupuncture Stress Reduction Clinic for many weeks now.
The clinic was begun on September 12, 2001 in response to the World Trade
Center disaster. The combination of her music – harp, flute and soothing
voice – has been a major component in the healing atmosphere created
here, and in many ways ‘completes’ the milieu. Ruth’s music accompanies the
work of massage therapists, energy practitioners, and acupuncturists.
Clients and staff continue to be moved by the presence of Ruth and the
calming sound.”

Department of Psychiatry St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center,

“Ruth’s Sound
Healing/Voice Play Class is one of the most popular and well-loved
workshops at the Women’s Center. We offer the class monthly because so
many women value it and love attending it. Women say that it soothes,
centers, connects and supports them in their lives and in their spiritual
journeys. Not only do the women get to make sound together and learn
practices that they can use in their daily lives, but they get to
experience Ruth’s beautiful, healing and grace-filled voice and sound
journeys. We feel grateful and and blessed to have Ruth teaching at the
Center.”
